Confidentiality
I respect your right to privacy. I also believe you should understand the limitations of confidentiality in order to make an informed decision regarding your disclosures. The following are the legal exceptions to confidentiality.

If your are a danger to yourself or others.

If there is reasonable suspicion of abuse or neglect to a child, elder or dependent adult.

If in a legal proceeding, your raise the issue of your mental/emotional condition.

If you waive your right to privilege including written consent for limited disclosure.

If in a legal dispute regarding a deceased individual information is deemed necessary to settle the dispute.

If you provide consent to other clinicians to provide records of care.

If I will be away for a significant period of time, an on call clinician will be made available for potential issues.

If a minor child is seen, parents and legal guardians will be provided with information in the face of serious risky behavior or with minor patient consent.

If in group therapy, all participants are asked to maintain confidentiality.

If in family therapy, information provided in a solo session will not be provided to other family members.
